July 25, 2021 — Most of my suggestions on YouTube right now have something to do with chipmunks. I have no idea why I got the first one of those suggestions, but I’ve played so many that my algorithm now is about half chipmunks. Today, though, YouTube remembered that I also like guitar. It gave me a suggestion of a young woman named Samantha Fish. I played the video, thought it was good, so looked her up.

She’s 32. She’s been playing a while. She’s had a few hair-dos too. I liked her, mostly because two of her cover songs were songs I learned … when I was learning, before I took a much-too-long break. Tom Petty. The Stones. She seems very cover-song-like, but she does them well.

She even has a slick video, not sure if it’s done on her own, somehow, or if she has a label.

But she did serve as an inspiration because it seems one can turn Wild Horses and a bit of Tom Petty into something all their own. Or at least they are what they are — fun to play.

And she managed to turn those very same things I was playing into her own songs. Pretty inspirational. Now if only I can actually get back to it!
