A Remake to Rock Out

January 27, 2023 – Well, I wanted to end January without keeping my Christmas story up, so here’s a little story.

Lately I’ve had a lot of opportunity to listen to the radio in the car. Sure most of the radio cross-country is country, … and Spanish, but I have listened to pop too here and there on the drive. And a wee bit of rock too. The rock I get in while driving to visit the horse and get her food. There are a few pop songs I like right now, and I’ll get to those, but there is some new rock. There’s a fairly new Def Leppard album, and I like the song they play on the radio from that album. I’ll put that one at the end. But what caught my attention right now is a song they featured last week on the rock station here. It’s a remake of a Journey song. I loved Journey back in the day, and frankly, I can’t think of Journey remakes except in bad Glee TV show episodes (not into those), but this one was cool. And it’s very rock, even more so, or perhaps differently so, than Journey.

It’s Separate Ways done by Daughtry, that runner-up from American Idol a lot of years ago, and features Lizzy Hale, the singer from Halestorm. It’s a true duet, meaning they sing together for lots of it. I think their voices compliment each others, and I like the arrangement. I like it that it rocks out.

And while we’re at it, how about that Def Leppard song? They are always good. Totally ageless. And I turn this song way up every time it comes on.

Oh and if I don’t get around to a new story before Valentine’s Day, then that cover photo kind of works. Right? And the Def Leppard video has a heart. That works! For sure that works!
