New (ish) Roth Show Episode

The Roth Show, Season 2, Episode 2.  In this episode, another in David Lee Roth’s series covering his own early influences, he gives credit to many African American singers and dancers, from “Cookie” on Soul Train to the lead singer of the R&B group The Persuasions whom he says he copied in style.  At minute mark 27:18, he mentions about five seconds of his song writing process, showing the inserts to the 2012 Van Halen release, A Different Kind of Truth, which featured Roth’s handwritten lyrics of the songs on that record.  While that seems to be the only mention of Van Halen, I do think there is hope he’ll get to that influence seeing as his final mention of his influence by the singer of The Persuasions is a concert he attended as a high school Sophomore in 1970 or 1971.  The clip ends with footage of a delivery of a long board to the very end of his back yard, and shows really good footage of those stairs that were so often used in Van Halen photographs.  Perhaps we’ll get footage of the basement in the next episode.  Why am I hearing the opening chords to Runnin’ with the Devil now?
