I guess this is the week of Def Leppard! And I’m going to make this story quick because I’m feeling more like Christmas than rock ‘n’ roll. Or am I? Hummm. The rock news of the week has even more Def Leppard, with Lep’s guitarist Phil Collin (you know the one with the amazing abs) telling Billboard that the band will host another Las Vegas residency, this one featuring Pyromania, sometime in late 2014. Also out are rumors that Def Leppard is working on another album, and because of the newly announced residency, I would say their new album will come out in 2015.

I was lucky enough to see Def Leppard’s March-April 2013 Las Vegas residency, Viva Hysteria, featuring the Hysteria album, plus a disguised Def Leppard pretending to be a Def Leppard tribute band as a their own “back-up” band playing deep cuts and a few other hits in a set that changed nightly. The Viva Hysteria show is now a dvd, featuring only the Hysteria tracks not the “tribute” band set. The dvd loses a lot of the feel of that concert, mostly due to camera angles that are too close in, and sound that seems to emphasize the particular member who is featured in that frame, such that it completely misses the colorful and emotional and magical backdrops that framed each song. I was a bit disappointed that the dvd failed to capture the magic of that concert, but still, it tries, so I’ll link it here to give you a little rock while we wait for Christmas. Enjoy, and I’ll be back before Christmas.
XOXO

P.S. Is it wrong for me, a girl, to run around my house air-singing and pretending to be … Joe Elliott?
