May 9, 2020 – In the category of biggest waste of time ever, I had a livestream on for three hours. I was waiting for Taylor Momsen, the singer of The Pretty Reckless, who was scheduled to perform an acoustic song. And of course, she didn’t come on until the end. Well, it was not a total waste of time because I was working a bit, not that much though, and I made banana bread, and I ate lunch, but I should have done so much more. Oh well. It was Taylor Momsen.
The livestream was hosted by Fearless Records, the new label, as of this week, for The Pretty Reckless. The band, through Taylor’s posts on twitter, is supposed to release a new album, their first in many years, and so, in comes Fearless Records, whoever they are, with Taylor Momsen as their livestream headliner. And the fans of her and of The Pretty Reckless were out in force, writing comments on the YouTube stream all for her. Three hours of Taylor, Taylor, Taylor, TPR, TPR, TPR, heart, heart, heart. I almost felt sorry for the other bands.
I didn’t watch every one of those other bands, but of the ones I watched, and speaking of the ones who talked, what they said, almost uniformly, is that they are working on new music to pass their time at home. So the good of this lockdown may be that we’ll have a lot, like an actual lot, of new music next year. I suppose that’s something to look forward to. And I learned of one more band I didn’t know of that I liked, acoustically anyway, or the singer acoustically. The actual version isn’t as pretty as what he did on the livestream; the singer’s voice was really great on the livestream, but this version isn’t bad. It’s something to check out.
And then there was Taylor. She did a cover of Peace, Love and Understanding, acoustically, and matching the acoustic, mellow theme, without her usual dark eye make-up. She looks so young without the make-up. It was nice to see Taylor, and I did like the song. But what I loved? The guitar. Why? Because I have one! The exact one! I’m glad I found the song on YouTube because I spent most of the time the song played trying to do a screen shot of Taylor and the guitar. Oh and I’m pretty sure I could do this song too. I might just have to try it. This is really cool; something to play along to, and seeing as I have the same guitar, it’ll sound the same. Okay, not the vocals, but I’ll try. Livestreams get personal. Yes, indeed!
