January 11, 2020 – Sparkly rules. And the Harley Quinn pants are a nice twist too. I’m a week ahead of a trial, and I’m trying to get a lot done, so this post is going to be a simple one. Hopefully this link stays up; it’s David Lee Roth’s entire show from the second night, recorded on someone’s iPhone 11.
It sounds like a live show. I like the guitars. I like the drums. I like the bass, and yes, it’s a bit low in the mix, just like the records. Oh, and the most important part, I like David.
I would really like to go to Vegas for this show. I don’t know if it will be possible, and I don’t have any idea who I would go with. Well, actually, that’s not true. I would like to go with my sister. Right now I’m texting her giving her my preference on a choice of wig. Daenerys Targaryen was my suggestion, to which my sister responded, what’s that? I sent her a photo link, told her go big or go home, and got the eternal response, lol. Only thing is, I wasn’t kidding. I’d get one too. Front row, two ladies in matching Daenerys wigs, you know waist-length platinum hair, complete with queen braids; I think it’s appropriate; that would go well with sparkles – so seriously overdone. I’m not sure how she’ll be feeling in March, but it would be a grand idea.
And speaking of platinum blondes, I routinely check Taylor Momsen’s twitter posts. She has a lot of activity, making her fans excited for an anticipated 2020 release by her band The Pretty Reckless, but she always pays respect. She posted a photo of Neil Peart, captioning it saying he inspired everyone who picked up any instrument. A lot of the comments to her, a woman of no more than 26, are from people saying they saw Rush early-on, 1974 for example. I didn’t notice any responses by her; sometimes she does respond, but what was so amazing and wonderful is that Taylor’s tweet was an ageless place – young and old paying respect to a great, some people saying how much they wished they had seen him play live.
So here’s my thought, if a great is still alive, don’t look for faults, don’t wish it was the way it was in the beginning. Nothing is. What matters is that there’s enough that is still there. David Lee Roth still sounds like himself. He still is … himself. Gone is his version of Daenerys hair; gone are the acrobatics, but what’s still here – David Lee Roth.
Yes, I really do want to go to see this show in Vegas. I need two tickets, one handicapped ticket please, in addition to her current issues, my sister is handicapped, you know that thing where one is not quite the same, but still is. And I will need a couple airplane tickets, one from LA, one from Dallas. Now, how to pull that off.
