March 31, 2019 – CDL, and no I don’t mean commercial driver’s license, although, honestly, I’ve always wanted one of those. No, I mean congratulations, Def Leppard.
It’s not every day that people so high on the list of my favs are all over the place, and that follows yesterday, a really good one for me because my riding teacher (occupied by a delivery of a horse) left me to myself in my horse-riding lesson, and as I was left to myself, I chose to play fun riding things with my fancy Morgan horse. Sure, my teacher mocks my barrel racing background, but I still blame her because she told me my lesson horse, Slurpee (the fancy Morgan), likes to do the obstacle course – a course with poles on the ground, pits and a curtain to go through. I did that course a few times, and Slurpee really was interested in it, then a light went off. I wasn’t being watched, and I had the covered arena to myself, so I lined up Slurpee in the middle, then steered the first two turns of my pretend barrel three-barrel pattern, a pattern that I haven’t done since Def Leppard was releasing these songs that are now RnR Hall of Fame worthy, but still, just like those songs, one that is permanently engrained in my mind. When Slurpee and I were at the pretend home stretch of the barrel pattern, I stopped Slurpee, then before I could even cue her to canter, she jumped, ready to go, and canter we did, without all the normal pomp and circumstance, just the word, no kick, no nothing, this from a horse that for everyone else needs spurs. Ha! Oh, and I’m pretty sure Slurpee thought it was the most fun thing ever. She wanted to do it twice; really, seriously, Slurpee, not me, wanted to do it twice.
Then there was all the Def Leppard on the radio. A happy horse, hiding out doing Western things we aren’t supposed to do, and Def Leppard. It was truly rebellious.
And because the house painting continues, I think I’ll let Def Leppard’s Rock ‘n’ Roll induction videos speak for themselves… because I’m tired, and still covered in too much Behr Antique Earth. Again, CDL!!!!
